On my flight to Utah from Texas we were caught in a lightning storm. I was in the window seat and had the best view. I saw the lightning in the other clouds that were only about 30 feet away. It was completely dark and about every 10 seconds a bolt of lightning would light up and reveal the colors and shapes of the clouds nearby. We would then fly in and out of clouds. It seriously felt like a dream.
